I’m afraid to go to sleep because I took a nap earlier and counted three bouts of sleep paralysis and a really bad ocular migraine.
And it’s hard to tell an ocular migraine from synesthesia sometimes. Like, it started out as this pink and yellow…tingling blob. You know how the snow on a tv screen looks? It was like that, except pink and yellow instead of black and white. I was just laying there like “huh. That’s new.” until I fell back asleep, since I couldn’t move or anything.
The second time, I woke up in the same uncomfortable position, and instead of the blob, I saw neon pink and yellow/green circles morphing in and out of each other. I didn’t really think much of that, since it’s similar to what I see before falling asleep, anyway. When I started to come to my senses (still couldn’t move), the circles started morphing faster until they we’re replaced with this big black circle surrounded by red, and it felt like someone was taking their thumb and pressing it into my eye socket. By this point, I’m kinda freaking out, but I still can’t move, so I’m just stuck there, half blind.
Now that same eye feels like it’s gonna fall out and I keep thinking about what if my retina detaches while I’m asleep and I don’t get to the doctor in time and I go blind.
